Neck Pain

Is your spine a pain in the neck?  You'll find out more about how neck pain is classified and treated here.

The neck is the most movable area of the spine!  It also has the most muscles, which means that each of those muscles are very small and delicate, as are the ligaments.  The upper part of the neck is responsible for 80% of the rotation of your head, which allows you to look left and right.

A person with a perfectly working neck would be able to turn their head from left to right, tilt it from side to side, and lean it forward and backward with a full range of motion; and they should be able to do so painlessly.

Since the neck is so mobile / flexible, it's more delicate and less stable.  Though flexibility has its advantages, the resulting vulnerability can be the cause of problem.  Posture, accidents, wrongful lifting, and self adjusting are some reasons people can wind up with neck pain.

Primary causes of neck pain include muscle and tendon strain, ligament sprain, disc bulge / herniation, whiplash and more.  Depending on what the cause is, treatment would vary.
