Low Back Pain

Low back pain is a common complaint among over 80% of the USA population.  Arm yourself with these facts.

Low back pain ... who hasn't had it at some point?  Millions of Americans complain of low back pain to some degree each year; many of them have chronic low back pain.

What causes it?  Well - that is as difficult to answer as it is to understand.  The fact is that so much can cause or contribute to low back pain that it is challenging to fully appreciate.  Some major causes include, but are not limited to, muscle strain, muscle imbalance, muscle weakness, subluxation, being overweight / obese, disc problems, and ligament sprains.  Some less common, but notable, causes of low back pain include problems with the pancreas, kidneys, bladder, bowel, uterus, prostate, and more.  These organs, and others, can refer pain to the low back because they share sensory receptors in the spinal cord with them.

How do you fix it?  This is easier to answer.  It depends on the cause of the pain.  The difficulty is in determining the cause of the problem.  That is what requires the testing that we will perform in our office.  After we've determined the primary cause, we'll set goals, outline a treatment plan, and hopefully start achieving improvement.  If the cause of your low back pain requires additional referrals, we will be happy to arrange the appropriate referrals and co-manage your case.

How long will it take?  That's something that can't be answered here.  There are factors that are unpredictable and thus a consultation and examination are required.  If you suffer from Low Back Pain, your first step is to call and make an appointment.  Together, we can make a change in the quality of your life!
